Get to know Me
Hi, I’m Marjorie—a Nanaimo-based photographer, a proud mom and a lifelong lover of visual storytelling. I’ve spent the last 30 years chasing light, laughter, and real moments with my camera. Whether I’m capturing a quiet glance, a full-on giggle fit, or a milestone worth remembering, I’m all about making people feel at ease and seen. I live and work on beautiful Vancouver Island and love meeting new faces, especially families, creatives, and fellow weirdos. Oh, and I firmly believe that photography should never feel stiff or stuffy, this should be fun!

The Work Stuff
I graduated from Emily Carr College of Art and Design and have photographed everything from high-profile celebrities to newborns, weddings, and family pets (all equally iconic in their own way). Early in my career, I shot for Disinformation Magazine, where I focused on the fashion and band sections, which prepared me for photographing artists like Courtney Love, Edwin
( I Mother Earth), and Alaska Thunder_ (Rupaul's Drag Race). I’ve had three different studios over the years and have worked as an editor for professional photographers and a real estate photographic business. I’ve also had the joy of photographing more than 200 weddings and estimate I’ve captured over 60,000 smiling faces—and every single one of them taught me something new. These days, I work exclusively on location, soaking up all the magic this island has to offer.
My Philosophy
Great photography isn’t about stiff poses or perfect weather, it’s about you feeling relaxed, joyful, and present in the moment. I’m here to guide, cheerlead, gently direct, and then step back and capture those genuine expressions that only show up when you’re at ease. I’ve worked with people of all ages, from brand-new babies to 90-year-olds who still know how to flirt with the camera. I believe that creating a safe, relaxed space brings out the best in everyone, and that’s when the most beautiful images appear. I take the art seriously, but never myself. If you leave your session smiling, I’ve done my job right.
Fun Facts about me
When I’m not behind the lens, I’m onstage as the lead singer of Nakatomi Freefall, a synthwave band with a signed record deal and some serious ‘80s vibes. We’ve been recording since 2020 and are now performing live shows across the island (yes, it’s as fun as it sounds). I once owned a small works art gallery called A.P.H.I.D., right here in Nanaimo, and I still champion local creativity whenever I can. I’m also the proud parent of the best dog of all time, and yes, she knows it. Life is full, messy, magical, and worth capturing, and I can't wait to help you do just that.
Can't wait to meet you
